Known also as floating floors, longstrip hardwood floors are very similar to engineered hardwood floors. Hardwood flooring made of longstrips are made from several different wood plies that are glued to into one pieces. Three ply longstrip is typlical. The center of a longstrip is made up of a softer core to form a tounge and groove connection between pieces. The visually appealing hardwood is glued to the top of the other pieces. This allows for cost savings as the top level can be an exotic specie, while the bottom can be a cheaper one.
The longstrip lengths can be up to 7 feet long of 7 inch wide pieces that are pre assembled. The installation of a longstrip hardwood floor is usually done with floating, glue, staple or nail down depending on the sub-floor.
We're dedicated to improving the hardwood flooring industry by sharing what we know. To this end, we offer you advice and recommendations before and after your purchase.
